About the Author
Hi! I’m Alana, and I’m glad you’re here!
I found Jesus in middle school, the Best Friend I needed when I didn’t know I was lonely, the Living Water I needed when I didn’t know I was thirsty. He saved my life, He changed my life, and He forever changed the course of my life, too.
He has given me a gift with words, and a passion for truth. These two things have collided beautifully and divinely to turn me into an author, poet, and songwriter. Nothing makes me madder than a piece of literature claiming to represent biblical ideas when it, in fact, does not wholly represent biblical ideas. Nothing makes me happier than something that claims to represent biblical ideas, and does… and bonus points if it’s got creativity and rhythm!
A few other fun facts… I had my heart set on being a veterinarian when I graduated, but God has completely removed that desire when I met Him; now my future seems to be looking like missions, music, and lots of things having to do with words! Also, I have been published by Skillful Pen Press, and I am working on full-length novels and poetry collections as well. I really love cats (I have seven) and I really love Mexican food.
But most importantly, I hope that this website is used by God, guided by His hand, and serves as a tool that He uses to draw you closer to Him.
To Him be the glory forever and ever.
History of the Site
One night in early 2022, earbuds in, I was washing dishes when the song “Start Right Here” by Casting Crowns started playing. I was suddenly convicted to send the song to everyone I know, along with a little paragraph about why it’s so important to share the Gospel with the people who are around us every day.
Over the next several weeks, as I would be casually listening to music, I would become convicted to do the same thing. I would break down the message of the song in a paragraph, provide its foundational Scripture, and send it all as a text with the song link to everyone I knew. It became a very regular thing.
It wasn’t long before it was suggested that I build a real website to post the little messages on, as the messages were growing longer and longer. So, after several weeks of building, Soaring in the Savior was launched in July 2022 using an embarrassingly boring template from the free version of Wordpress. The first official message was about how we ought to rely on God to help carry our burdens, and it was released on July 19, 2022. Finally, the days of copying and pasting the same text to each individual person were over.
I continued to post messages with songs and Scripture roughly once a week, and over time, the site expanded. There were sections for quotes from missionaries, Bible trivia, a collection of worship songs, a collection of recommended sermons, and a place to post prayer requests. It was exceedingly plain, but it was wonderful, and it reached all of 48 subscribers.
Unfortunately, the timing of all of this coincided with an eighteen-month long moving process, being away from my church family, and starting my freshman year of high school. I became very burnt out from everything in my personal life, and had little to no spare time to commit to the site. In mid-November, it all fell apart.
In August of 2026, freshly graduated and with more energy and time, I decided to bring it back… but differently. I wanted to make it more sophisticated, add some color, and I wanted it to be much more user-friendly. I bought the domain, transferred it to a different host, and built the entire website back piece by piece. I decided to delete the sections of songs, sermons, and trivia, wanting to reset the whole site. I felt that it would be better to channel the focus to the messages themselves, my personal blog, and the encouraging quotes. I also realized the need to make the messages much heavier in Scripture, and less focused on unpacking the lyrics of a song - although I will still use them as tools in some messages.
My prayer is that this new and improved version of Soaring of the Savior will both grow and help you grow in your walk with God.
